Why Most Supercars Have Automatic Transmissions

You’ll note that many supercars have automatic transmissions, not manuals. But why is that? There are several reasons to build these luxury automobiles with automated manual transmissions (AMTs) as technology advances. You can rely on us. When you step behind the wheel of a V8 Ferrari or a V10 Lambo, you’ll notice the increased performance and convenience without sacrificing the fun of driving a manual transmission. Here are the reasons why most supercars have automatic transmissions!

A Transmission That Can Handle More Horsepower

While an automatic transmission was not the fastest option in the past, technology is changing this element of car driving. A manual transmission cannot keep up with the huge power these engines now produce, with many supercars exceeding 500 horsepower or more.

• Automatic transmissions have a faster 0-60 mph time than manual transmissions.
• Shifting by hand is slower than using an automated transmission.
• Automatic shifting allows for more efficient gear acceleration.
• Because fewer individuals learn to drive manual cars, they are becoming less popular.

Can You Even Drive a Stick Shift?

Not everyone who drives a premium sports car is a car aficionado seeking the immersive experience of manual gear shifting. Many people who want to drive supercars never had to learn how to operate a clutch or shift gears. From 2010 to 2014, Ferrari reported that manual transmission sales accounted for less than 1 percent of their total sales.

The New Automatic Experience

With an automatic option, you can immerse yourself in an incredibly advanced sound system or experience the wind in your hair without the distraction of noisy, grinding gears. Furthermore, automatic transmissions give you more learning room and maneuverability without diverting your attention to gear shifting!
